Los gallegos Mequetrefe debutan con doble vinilo enfundado en espeluznante portada, tras resultar semifinalistas del Proyecto Demo 2008 y alzarse el mismo año con el concurso maquetero de Foc & Sound, obteniendo así la posibilidad de grabar el presente álbum.
De complicada clasificación milimétrica, el quinteto comparte coordenadas de uno u otro tipo con My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, Jesus & Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, Adorable o Joy Division. Noise, distorsión, Shoegaze y pinceladas de surrealismo psicodélico conforman el poliédrico menú. Música prensada en elepé, aprovechando la aguja del tocadiscos en la consecución del sonido primario producido por José Luis Mecías, conocido por su trabajo con Surfin´ Bichos.
Guitarras y batería electrónica agitan el acontecer del disco hacia oscuros placeres, con extensas piezas que en realidad significan el confluir de diversas manifestaciones estilísticas, destinadas a cohabitar en un mismo surco. Composiciones sepultadas como “I Just Want To Be a Flaming Lip” yacen junto a la infiltrada electrónica industrial de “Croissant #3”, la apreciable influencia de los hermanos Reid en la notable “Moncofa Beach”, o la colaboración de Florent de Los Planetas en la experimental y apocalíptica “Bomba Navarro” dando paso a la acertada languidez de “Fire, Walk With Me”.
Sombría melodía y bruma sinuosa conviven pacíficamente en este interesante regalo para amantes del género, que disfrutarán despachando sus sentidos entre incontables mares de capas sonoras.
